Kronos Foods Support Military Families Through Fisher House Relationship

Kronos Foods, Inc., the premier maker of gyros, baklava and other Mediterranean specialty foods, (www.kronosfoodsinc.com) has announced its relationship with Fisher House Foundation (www.fisherhouse.org), a unique private-public partnership supporting America's military and their families in time of need.

Kronos will support military families on an on-going basis through a series of local events and national activities, beginning with a welcome home celebration luncheon at the newest Fisher House located on the Edward Hines Jr Veteran’s Hospital campus on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at 11 a.m. The families of our heroes will be the special guests at this luncheon, along with dignitaries and Hines representatives. Kronos will also support the Chicago Fisher House through the donation of outdoor furniture for the Chicago Fisher House gazebo, a small respite in the midst of a medical crisis, welcome home luncheons at new Fisher Houses across the country and promotions to raise awareness of the organization nationwide.

“The healing power of food and the importance of family meals and fellowship is what we know best at Kronos,” said Michael Austin, chief executive officer of Kronos Foods. “By supporting this Fisher House in our local community with our food and our care, not only at the opening, but beyond, is our small way of saying thank you. On a regular basis, Kronos associates will bring prepared food for the families so that they can stay focused on their wounded or ill family member. Additionally, it will afford our associates the opportunity to become involved with an organization that is so important to so many.”

Fisher House “comfort homes” are built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times ---during hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease or injury. Annually, the Fisher House™ program serves more than 10,000 families, and have made available nearly three million days of lodging to family members since the program originated in 1990.

“Our relationship with Fisher House will help us provide for military families in need locally, and nationally through on-going military discounts at many restaurants serving Kronos products, as well during a nationwide promotion surrounding Veteran’s Day in November 2010, enabling families all over America the chance to support Fisher House by purchasing Kronos Gyros,” said Austin.

“Our new relationship with Kronos Foods will help to generate awareness for the Fisher House cause on both a local and national level, as well as support our ongoing initiatives—ensuring that military families get the support and care needed during their critical time of need,” said Cindy Campbell, public affairs director for Fisher House.

About Fisher House
The Fisher House™ program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House™ Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury. There is at least one Fisher House™ at every major military medical center to assist families in need and to ensure that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Annually, the Fisher House™ program helps 12,000 families and has made more than three million days of lodging available to family members since it originated in 1990.
